Sunday 11 May from 2:30pm to 5:30pm
Looking for a fun, relaxed and delicious way to spoil Mum this Mother’s Day?
Forget the crowded cafés and treat her to a guided walk through Newtown - one of Sydney’s most colourful, creative and food-obsessed neighbourhoods.
We’ll kick things off at the iconic “I Have A Dream” mural on King Street, where your host will share what makes this suburb so special — from its artistic edge to its fiercely independent spirit.
From there, it’s time to eat your way through Newtown like a local. You and Mum will visit 4 different eateries, sampling dishes that reflect the area’s incredible cultural diversity. Think Egyptian street food, Turkish gozleme, handmade Italian pasta, Japanese snacks, modern Australian bites and more — with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options along the way.
As we wander the backstreets and laneways, your host will also point out some of Newtown’s best street art — from political murals to whimsical illustrations — and share a few local stories and fun facts.
We’ll wrap things up at one of Newtown’s beloved local breweries, where you’ll enjoy a shared tasting paddle of craft beers or a non-alcoholic drink of your choice. It’s the perfect way to toast Mum and swap favourite bites with the group.
