Wednesday 1 June 2022 from 10:30am to 12pm
Join us for morning tea and a special presentation from leading First Nations photojournalist Barbara McGrady about her work to celebrate National Reconciliation Week.
Pictures are worth a thousand words.
"I strive to tell a story and evoke an emotion."
Barbara, a Gamilaroi Murri Yinah woman from north-western NSW and southern Queensland, is a meticulous Sydney-based photojournalist and media accredited sports photographer. She shoots NRL, AFL and title fight boxing. Barbara resides and works on the land of the Gadigal people to which she pays her respects. Her images capture the passion and achievements of contemporary Aboriginal history.
Telling the story through her unique sociological eye, Barbara describes herself as an observer and a protagonist. A documentarian of historical events that are important to Aboriginal people and culture and Australian people in general.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see some of Barbara’s photographs and hear the stories behind them.
Registrations are essential for this free event. Everyone is welcome.
If you can't make this time, you can also attend the talk at Cliff Noble Community Centre.
