Learn black and white photography with Len Metcalf in this truely unique online course. Take your understanding and practice of monochromatic photography to a new level of mastery in this online workshop run by one of the worlds leading monochromatic photographers.

Len will take you through seeing monochrome photographs, capturing, processing and printing them. He will teach you to make great monochrome photographs. He will mentor your work.

Taught online, in the comfort of your own home.

Run over two months, there is time to practice and assimilate the new information you are learning to include it in your photographic practice. Fortnightly sessions give you this time to think, reflect and practice. This course is suitable for digital and analogue photographers, though the technical aspects will concentrate on digital workflows.

Recordings of every session will be made available for review or if missed. It is a live and interactive class.

  • One classroom session every fortnight so you have time to absorb and practice your learning before moving forward - last session delayed for time to complete individual projects

  • Len will provide homework exercises for you to complete throughout the course. These are for your benefit as a learner to help develop your skills in seeing and creating compelling monochromatic images. You will be able to post your photographs into the class forum for group and instructor feedback throughout the course.

  • For the formal sessions you will need three and a half hours per fortnight to set aside for the Monday sessions. Len recommends you set aside an hour or two each day to the course to develop your skills.

Pre requisite requirements

Whilst you do not need any specific skills for this program, it is best suited to advanced beginners, intermediate and advanced photographers who are well on the way to taming their cameras.

Len will encourage and support you in working within your skill and personal adventure levels and will encourage you to push yourself.

We will be using zoom software which will need to be installed onto your computer. We find the software works best in group discussions with headphones. Usually the ones from our phones work well.
