Kick-start your Lunar New Year with a relationship workshop hosted by children’s book artist Myo Yim, as part of the exhibition ‘Lisa Myeung-Joo: The Red Chair in your picture does not exist’.
Inspired by Lisa Myeung-joo’s work, attendees will participate in a hands-on workshop using various materials. This 2-hour workshop will guide participants in creating individual art pieces using red tones, and they will learn how to combine these pieces into a single work of art through patchwork. The image they create will merge with others to tell a new story.
Participants will be offered Korean traditional rice cake (Tteok), along with a selection of lollies.

Lisa Myeong-Joo is an artist and arts worker, born in Seoul and living on Wangal Land, Sydney. Combining personal narrative, material and gesture into an expanded performance practice, she considers how meaning is made and transferred between the body, place and culture. Her work has been exhibited in group exhibitions nationally including Sydenham International, Firstdraft, Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, Post Office Projects and Counihan Gallery. She has participated in international residencies in South Korea and India including MMCA Changdong, Seoul; Horanggasy and Bari, Gwangju; What About Art, Mumbai; Chander Haat, Kolkata, and Kriti, Varanasi. Lisa completed Fine Arts Honours in 2021 and is currently undertaking her MFA at UNSW 2024-2026.
Myo Yim, a Korean author-illustrator living in Australia, has experience as a commercial illustrator in the visual arts, children’s books, and magazines. She has illustrated more than twenty books including in Wilder Child, Shoes off Please, White Sunday, Filo’s Butterflies, and Rajah Street. Recently she is illustrating with several international publishers like Random house, Walker books, Atheneum and more on. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Myo now lives in Byron Bay, Australia with her husband and two boys.
