Elements of a classical facade: an exhibition of new sculptures by Linda Marrinon.

Emerging in the 1980s, Linda Marrinon’s works are informed by an interest in feminism and art history, and often display a keen sense of humour. Since 2006, she has concentrated her practice exclusively on sculpture, producing modestly scaled figures and busts that draw on techniques associated with 19th century figurative sculpture. She is a master of ambiguity – her sculptures are at once an archetype and an intimate portrait.

Marrinon’s works are often a meditation on character and the human condition; an invitation for introspection. Armed with technical brilliance, Marrinon is free to indulge in idiosyncratic proportions and the pleasures of the handmade.

Linda Marrinon has been represented by Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery since 1983.

A room filled with thoughts: an exhibition of new paintings by Imants Tillers.

Imants Tillers is one of Australia’s foremost contemporary artists whose practice spans five decades. Since 1981 Tillers has used his signature canvas boards to explore themes relevant to contemporary culture, from the centre/periphery debates of the 1980s to the effects of migration, displacement and diaspora.

Since moving to Cooma in 1996, his paintings have been concerned with place, locality and evocations of landscape. Tillers juxtaposes layers of imagery and text drawn from a great many sources of influence and inspiration. The result is a convergence of ideas and a multiplicity of references that cite art – predominantly other artists’ work – history, literature, philosophy, poetry and the artist’s personal history.

Imants Tillers has been represented by Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery since 2007.

  • Opening reception: Friday, 1 August from 6pm to 8pm

  • Exhibition dates: 1 to 23 August 2025
