Laser cut printmaking

Learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop to prepare your own artwork or design that we’ll laser cut and print on our press.

Led by an experienced facilitator in the Darling Square Library makerspace, this workshop is a great introduction to laser cut printmaking using Adobe Photoshop and illustrator software and laser cutting.

You’ll be guided through how to use your existing image or design using Photoshop to make an etching plate Once you’re happy with your final design, we’ll help you print it on our small press. You’ll receive your etching and print during the class or by mail after the class.

What you’ll learn

• Basic digital design using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

• Tools including colour manipulation, image correction and filters to prepare your image for laser cutting  

• Basic laser cutting and print making.

What you’ll take home

• 1 professional laser cutting of your image and a print on printmaking paper. Designs are laser cut up to a maximum size of 10cm x 10cm.

• If your design is not ready by the end of the workshop we will mail it to you.

• Cost: $60 full / $48* concession per person

• Bookings and class size: maximum 10 people – bookings are essential

• Suitable for: ages 16+

• Parental permission is required for under 18s

• Experience level: beginner workshop with no required knowledge

• Wear: enclosed shoes and no loose-fitting clothing or jewellery

Eligibility for concession price: The ticket purchaser must hold a valid NSW Pensioner, Senior or full-time student card. Valid proof of concession to be shown in advance or in person at the workshop. If a valid proof of concession is not provided, the full rate will be required to be paid.
