Lantern Festival celebration

Wednesday 5 February from 1pm to 3pm

The Chinese Lantern Festival or Yuanxiao Festival marks the final day of the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations. 

Join us for a fun afternoon to experience the Lantern Festival with:

  • Chinese seniors dancing and singing

  • Tang-yuan tasting: small glutinous rice balls filled with nuts or fruits, symbolising togetherness

  • Chinese knotting and craft appreciation

  • Make-your-own lucky red envelope activity

  • Lantern decorations

Bookings are essential.

We aim to deliver inclusive and accessible events. If you have any particular access or communication needs, please contact Mon the Community Services Worker at Ron Williams Community Centre on 02 9265 9180 or mzhang@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au. Mon speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Ron Williams Community Centre is open Monday to Friday 9:30am to 3:30pm. We have free computers, wifi, snooker and table tennis, tea, coffee, biscuits, and books to borrow. See the full program
