Experience ‘Kujungka’, the first joint exhibition of Desmond Taylor, a Warman man of Western Australia and Sydney-based ocean abstract artist Timothy Johnston, featuring vibrant landscape paintings inspired by the Great Sandy Desert of Desmond’s country and Timothy’s beloved coastal home.

Desmond and Timothy share a friendship and an artistic journey together through their paintings, their deep connection to the ancient beauty of nature is revealed in their combined artworks.

Their multi-layered techniques and intricate designs complement each other’s artistic style, with scale and colour employed to portray the captivating landscapes that they each call home.

It was their respective use of colours that drew the artists together. After an initial meeting in September 2023, Desmond and Timothy connected for an artistic collaboration that produced the four communally painted artworks you’ll see in this exhibition.

“Each painting celebrates the rich and deep connection to these places and the stories that we share”, Desmond Taylor and Timothy Johnston.

Be inspired by the vast Australian landscapes, from the ocean to the desert. The exhibition features 35 individual artworks by Desmond and Timothy, supported by the four centrepiece canvases they worked on together: ‘Kujungka’ – Together, In One.

The exhibition is being hosted at Parliament House by the Hon. Ben Franklin, President of the Legislative Council.
