Sunday 5 December 2021 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm
This workshop is part of the FOUNDATIONS dance & knowledge workshop series at Crossover Dance Studio.
With the support of the City of Sydney, these workshops will be offered for the first time for only $30 with limited spots available.
The FOUNDATIONS workshop series aims to facilitate students' knowledge of the history, culture and community aspect of a dance style in addition to the teaching of dance technique and foundation. These workshops will be taught over a 3-hour dance and knowledge workshop that includes time for Q&A, video viewing and other materials.
Overview
Intro to Styles on Stage: Ballet, Modern, Contemporary & Jazz
3-hour knowledge & dance workshop taught by Ashley Goh
What is Jazz? How do I tell the difference between Jazz and Contemporary dance? Is the difference in the music? Why do they look so similar? Is ballet the mother of all these dance styles? If you’ve ever had any of these questions, come get some answers.
This workshop is for ANYONE that wants a deeper understanding of these dance styles and where they came from, and how it’s developed throughout the many years. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been training the last 10 years, or had 1 ballet class when you were 5, or never danced in your life, we welcome you with open arms.
This introductory workshop will be both theoretical and practical, but please do not expect to be able to write a thesis, or that this will be a full on company-standard training.
