Event Theme: "Voices Against Torture: A Call for Global Justice and Human Rights"
Join us for an evening of powerful discussions and expert insights into how diaspora communities and individuals around the world are combating torture and promoting human rights in countries with serious human rights violations. The event will feature:
Opening Addresses by key figures including Jorge Aroche, CEO of STARTTS, and a representative from the Diplomacy Training Program.
Keynote Speakers and a Panel Discussion with distinguished human rights advocates and academics connected to regions with severe human rights abuses. They will share their experiences and strategies for addressing these critical issues.
Survivor Testimony: Hear directly from a survivor of torture, who will share their personal story and the impact of support and advocacy on their journey to recovery.
Networking and Refreshments to conclude the evening, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect and discuss further actions.
This event is an opportunity for all individuals and communities who wish to advocate for human rights and stand against torture. Everyone has a role to play in promoting justice and supporting survivors.

The NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors
STARTTS is a specialist, not-for-profit organisation that was established in 1988. It provides culturally relevant psychological treatment and support, and community interventions, to help people and communities heal the scars of torture and refugee trauma and rebuild their lives in Australia. STARTTS also fosters a positive recovery environment through the provision of training to services, advocacy and policy work.
