The Living Room Theatre in association with Kawai presents Hayley Chan Trio / Mike Makowski & Jim Denley

Hayley Chan is an emerging performer and composer from Warrang/Sydney. Her musical practice spans from jazz and indie pop to experimental post-punk and free improvisations. Hayley's latest compositions explore the depictions of wild creatures, landscapes, and stories.

Her trio, featuring the incredible Gabriella Hill on tenor saxophone and Uma Volkmer on trumpet, will perform Hayley's latest composition 'Creatures/Inhabitants'. It is a concerto composed for her Performance Honours degree, exploring free improvisation, density, tonality and texture through the depiction of creatures in the wilderness. The trio will also present some of Hayley's semi-structured improvisations.

  • Hayley Chan, drums, percussion and compositions

  • Gabriella Hill, tenor saxophone

  • Uma Volkmer, trumpet

  • Mike Makowski, double bass

  • Jim Denley, saxophone
