GROW is a community-based organisation that has helped thousands of Australians to improve their mental health and wellbeing through its unique program of mutual support and personal development.

Recovering and maintaining mental health isn’t a straight road and that’s where the support of peers can help. Our Rainbow Group meeting is a welcoming and supportive online space for LGBTQIA+ adults and allies (aged 18+) to connect, share, and grow.

What makes GROW special is the lived experiences and practical problem-solving shared each week by participants. The peer-to-peer style of support has been proven to be a positive way of helping you remain on the road to recovery.

All of Grow’s programs are aimed at empowering people to overcome obstacles and live lives of meaning, optimism and hope. They’re evidence-based and informed by consumer experience.

What to expect at a group meeting:

  • Like all Grow groups, Rainbow group meetings are based on a 12-step program of personal growth and mutual support.

  • The structured meeting format provides a calm, safe space.

  • Meetings are confidential. You can choose to remain anonymous.

  • Participants have the opportunity to share the challenges that brought them to Grow and how they’re working on their personal recovery and growth.

  • Sharing is always your choice. Some new members choose not to share or speak, and that’s okay. There’s no pressure.

  • Each person's identity, and their individual philosophy or spirituality is respected.

  • Newer members are supported by experienced members who have worked through the Grow Program.

  • Group size varies from 3-10 people

  • Health is viewed holistically, incorporating physical, mental, social & spiritual wellbeing.

  • Meetings are weekly and go for about two hours.

  • Attending is free. Donations via the Grow website are welcome but always optional.

  • New visitors are encouraged to attend three meetings to get a sense of whether Grow is a good fit for you.

No diagnosis or referral is required. Everyone is welcome.
