Saturday 17 May from 1pm to 3pm
Gay Clay is a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space for queer-identifying folks and allies who want to learn basic ceramics skills. By coming together to work with clay, we practice embodiment and self-care within a community – important skills which anchor us in today's fast paced world.
This workshop will focus on nerikomi – a Japanese technique that involves stacking coloured blocks of clay and slicing them to reveal a pattern. We inlay these pieces onto clay slabs and make them into functional objects of our choosing.
At the end of the workshop your pieces will dry out and then be fired and clear glazed by Annie. This means they’ll be functional pieces of pottery when you come to collect them. You will be able to come and collect them four weeks after your workshop.
