Anna-Marÿke Solo Exhibition
“Homage to The Love of a Pug. A mood, a memory, an abstraction, my muse, the power of a vast landscape contrasted to the minute scale of a being larger than life. A juxtaposition of scale, form, tone, texture, feeling.”
Take a walk with man’s best friend while experiencing Anna-Marÿke's dramatic new exhibition. Her moody photographic series pays homage to the love of a pug, capturing the memories and companionship of her own dog Beetlejuice over four years.
Anna-Marÿke’s landscape images invite the viewer to see beyond the obvious. Where the dog is expected to be the sole subject, the landscape must also be equally as considered. It dominates the scenes in black and white to evoke mood, contrast, and atmosphere, creating photographs that inspire imagination and questioning.
For The Love of a Pug, to be launched by Michael Yabsley, will run from April the 20th to the 25th. A dramatic and unique exhibition, it welcomes the ambiguous and curious responses of its viewers.
About the artist
Anna-Marÿke has worked within the arts and photography scene her whole life. She has spent over 35 years developing her craft, building a portfolio of exhibitions showcasing still life, antiquities, and real-time photography.
With photography as her artistic medium, she has traditionally used film and digital formats across her works. A recent stint in Las Vegas inspired Anna-Marÿke to delve into the new, yet not-so-foreign, world of iPhonography, translating her technical skills to the small screen.
For The Love of a Pug, sees Anna-Marÿke’s iphonography take on a life of its own, creating majestic imagery in the vast landscapes of her Southern Highlands property.
Opening 20 April 6pm.
