Empty Shoes

When

Tuesday 28 November 2023 from 8am to 1pm

Vigil: 8am to 1pm. Speakers and presentations: 12:30 pm

Women deserve safety. Help us help them. Please join us for the Empty Shoes vigil to honour and remember victims of domestic and family violence.

Shockingly, on average, one woman is killed by domestic and family violence every week in Australia. The vigil will feature 52 pairs of shoes one for each of these women. Our goal is to raise awareness and funds to support our work against domestic and family violence at Lou's Place, a safe haven for women in crisis or needing help.

This event is part of UNITE! Activism, which aims to end violence against women and girls during the UN's "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence."

The vigil will be held at Martin Place from 8 am to 1 pm. Speakers and presentations will start at 12:30pm.

Amber Lawrence, Australian Country Singer Female Artist of the Year, will be making a guest appearance and performing at the end of the vigil.

Visit the Lou's Place website for more information and ways to donate to this important cause.
