How do we design objects for a Circular Economy? This workshop examines design and the circular economy and explores the methods that designers can apply to reuse existing materials for objects that fit within a technical or biological cycle.
We focus on exploring redesign processes, which allow designer-makers to catalyse increased commercial and cultural value in existing materials. This means that we can avoid resource depletion and redivert waste streams by commercially manufacturing value-added objects.
We are seeking emerging designers – working in textiles, jewellery, and object design - with 1-3 years industry experience to work as part of an interdisciplinary team of designer-makers in this explorative workshop. During the session you will explore, create and test repair, refurbishment and remanufacturing methods to create samples, prototypes and objects that reuse existing materials.
This event is part of the Sydney Craft Week Festival 7-16 October 2022.
