These spring school holidays, get hands-on with inspiring art-making activities alongside artists and musicians at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Experience live music performances as part of Volume – a new festival of sound and vision; create and move to your own colourful sounds; experiment with shadow play; and listen to stories during the spring school holidays.
Workshop: Colour rhythm collage (Sat 23 Sep – Sun 8 Oct) – Drop in and create a collage in this kids workshop developed with artist David Sequeira. Free.
Workshop: Polka dot flowers (Sat 23 Sep – Sun 8 Oct) – Children are invited to create an artwork inspired by the work of Yayoi Kusama in this drop in workshop. Free.
Kids tour: The art of sound (Mon–Fri, 25 Sep – 6 Oct) – Take a roving art-making tour, highlighting artworks that explore sound. Free.
Storytime: For under 5s (Fridays, 11.30am–12pm) – Enjoy the magic of art through books and storytelling during storytime in the children's library. Free.
All ages evening of music, performance and film (Sun 24 Sep, 6–10pm) – Featuring South Korean–Japanese travelling family band TENGGER, toy instruments, vintage cartoons and vibraphone in the Tank. Charges apply.
Workshop: Paper, scissors, shadow (Sat 23 Sep – Mon 2 Oct) – Explore drawing, paper cutting, storyboarding and shadow puppetry in this free workshop led by artist Jumaadi. For ages 8+. Free.
Workshop: Wonderpole (Mon 25 Sep – Sat 7 Oct) – Build your own digital synthesiser over five days in a workshop led by Datu Arellano and supported by Filipino artist Toni Muñoz. Charges apply.
