The City of Sydney has long recognised the challenges facing artists when seeking affordable space to live and work in the inner city. Since 2013, the Council has responded to this by offering subsidised residential leases in their city-owned properties located in Darlinghurst for artists to both live and work from the same premises.
The City are now seeking applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and creatives to live and work in 1 three bedroom Waterloo apartment for an 18-month period from October 2023. Applicants are required to demonstrate a relevant creative practice to pursue throughout their tenancy and identify why they would benefit from this unique opportunity.
