Ceramics: introduction to wheel throwing (Sunday mornings)

Get your hands dirty and discover the rewarding process of throwing clay. Learn correct posture, centring, throwing and turning your vessel, and how to open and finish the form. 

This course is for complete beginners with a focus on process and technique rather than production.  

This program occurs every Sunday for a duration of 5 weeks.

  • Week 1: 28 July, 10am to 12:30pm 

  • Week 2: 4 August, 10am to 12:30pm 

  • Week 3: 11 August, 10am to 12:30pm 

  • Week 4: 18 August, 10am to 12:30pm 

  • Week 5: 25 August, 10am to 12:30pm

Small class size: maximum 10 students. 

Level: designed for beginner level students. 

Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes (trousers recommended). 

Bring: please bring your own apron and towel. 

All pieces created in the course must be no more than 25 cubic centimetres. Your works will be fired and ready to collect around 3 weeks after the course. We’re unable to fire pieces made outside of the course.
