Tuesday 22 August 2023 from 7:30pm to 9pm
One of Britain’s most widely acclaimed musicians will perform a Celebrity Organ Recital at Shore’s Chapel on Tuesday 22 August, at 7:30pm in an event not to be missed by music lovers.
Thomas Trotter is a distinguished British organist. He has occupied posts at King’s College Cambridge and Westminster Abbey and has been the Birmingham City organist and organist at St Margaret’s Westminster for many years.
In 2020, Thomas received the Queen’s Award for Music, which places him amongst some of Great Britain’s most respected and admired musicians. Previous awardees include Bryn Terfel, Charles Mackerras, Colin Davis, Emma Kirkby, and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
In 2012, he was named International Performer of the Year by the New York Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and in 2014 was accorded the ultimate honour of a Royal Command Performance before the Queen on the 150th anniversary of the Royal College of Organists.
In 2002 Tomas won the Royal Philharmonic Society Award, the first ever awarded to an organist, in recognition of his achievements as “one of the foremost exponents of the organist’s art.”
Thomas is an active recording artist, appearing on the Decca, Hyperion, Regent, and Chandos labels.
The magnificent chapel organ has recently had a substantial upgrade, more than doubling its size, and celebrates its centenary this year.
