Bronze casting sculpture: 2 day studio workshop

When

Fortnightly on Saturdays, 10am to 3pm Saturday 21 September 2024 to Saturday 5 October 2024

Would you like to see your sculpture cast in bronze? Casting in bronze is often regarded as the pinnacle of sculpture yet the costs and procedures involved in the classic lost wax method often places it outside the access of most artists.

Sandcasting offers a means of casting in bronze that is much lower in cost and is more direct and accessible, particularly for emerging artists. This 2-day workshop will provide the opportunity to create a small cast bronze sculpture at a price that is affordable to anyone.

The two sessions of the workshop will be conducted on Saturday September 21 and Saturday October 5.

No previous sculpture experience is required. Your tutor, sculptor Richard Byrnes, will guide you through the processes of preparation, casting and finishing required for your bronze sculpture. All tools and materials are provided.

Additional foundry fees are required to cover casting costs and are paid directly to the tutor.
