Illustrator Katrin Dreiling will show you her artist studio and tell you how she comes up with some of her fabulous main characters. Have your paper and pencils ready as she leads you in a fun drawing activity to invent your own character.

What you will need: Students will need A4 paper and colouring pencils.

Target audience: Suitable for Kindergarten – Year 2 students (children aged 5-8) but everyone is welcome.

Katrin Dreiling creates quirky illustrations that feature different media. Her first picture book, The World’s Worst Pirate by Michelle Worthington, was awarded Notable Book 2018 by the Children’s Book Council of Australia. In 2021, her first authored and illustrated picture book, A Perfect Pig, was published by Scholastic Australia. Katrin also loves to illustrate for authors other than herself and has worked with Walker Books, Page Street Kids and Larrikin House among other publishing houses. The latest illustrated releases include Pip Harry’s The Fast Lane and Dani Vee’s I’m Not Too Much.
