Bonsai & Brews Brings Hands-On Creativity to Sydney Breweries
A new event series is giving brewery-goers a reason to slow down, get creative, and try something completely unexpected.
Bonsai & Brews is a guided, hands-on workshop that introduces participants to the art of bonsai, hosted inside local breweries across Sydney and New South Wales. Combining traditional bonsai techniques with a relaxed, social setting, the experience offers a fresh take on the typical brewery visit.
During the two-hour workshop, guests learn how to style, wire, prune, and care for their own bonsai tree, guided by an experienced facilitator. Each participant leaves with a tree to continue nurturing at home. Along with practical skills and a deeper appreciation for bonsai as a living art form, bonsai is part of the perfect garden for the apartment living style for many Sydney residents.
Set against the backdrop of a working brewery, the event blends creativity with hospitality. A complimentary drink is included, and guests are encouraged to settle in, connect with others, and enjoy the space beyond the workshop.
“We wanted to create something that slows people down a little—something creative, social, and a bit unexpected in a brewery setting,” says Mason Keane, co-founder of Bonsai & Brews.
The event is designed to be beginner-friendly and accessible, appealing to both plant enthusiasts and curious first timers. It also offers breweries a low-impact way to activate their space, particularly during quieter trading periods, by bringing in engaged, experience-driven audiences.
With strong visual appeal and a focus on hands-on participation, Bonsai & Brews taps into the growing demand for experiential events that combine learning, creativity, and social connection.
