Suzie Rix 2025
Suzie is committed to exploring her personal environment through the enduring genre of still life painting. There is a discipline in the painting of inanimate objects that has a connection to the history of painting.
It gives the viewer an entry into the artist’s relationship to their inner world and draws attention to their personal perception of the environment that surrounds them.
It also has the benefit of calming. The act of exploring the relationships of objects on a two-dimensional surface has a meditative effect on the mind requiring a clear focus that provides relief from current world where there is so much unrest and inhumanity.
Judy Denby 2025
‘Bloom’ is a meditation on what Judy finds essential to her happiness: wild places, flowers, rural vistas. Focussing on making art about what she finds beautiful is a great distraction. The way the late afternoon light falls on a hilly paddock in Lucknow, the reflections on a swamp in Glenbrook, the flowers plucked from her garden in Katoomba all offer inspiration for this body of work.
Judy has a firm belief that celebrating what you love can be infectious, and even the most innocuous landscape can be magical during the golden hour. Swamps, once regularly drained and filled are habitat to such a huge array of birds and other animals and create fantastic reflections, escarpments glow in the late afternoon light, mist envelops valleys and canyons on wintery mornings, sandstone stairways lead to fantastic formations.
Judy’s work is a portal into the natural world she loves. Enjoy.
