Kosciuszko! Author Talk with Anthony Sharwood

23 February 2025, 4:00pm at the Polish Club Ashfield

At long last, 184 years after Australia’s highest mountain was named, an Australian author has written a biography of the great Polish military engineer and freedom fighter Tadeusz Kosciuszko. This is your chance to meet Anthony Sharwood, the best-selling author behind the book Kosciuszko: The incredible Life of the Man Behind the Mountain’. Anthony will tell how he fell in love with both Kosciuszko and Poland, and explain why the lessons from Kosciuszko’s life are more relevant than ever in the modern age. Audience questions will be welcome!

Author Talk will be presented by Anthony Sherwood in English. A Q& A will follow the talk. There will be an opportunity to purchase the book on the day followed by book signing.

ABOUT ANTHONY SHARWOOD | Anthony Sharwood is a Walkley Award-winning journalist and the author of three recent books themed around the Australian high country. After writing From Snow to Ash and the Brumby Wars, he asked himself “I’ve been writing about the Kosciuszko area but who was this Kosciuszko person?” As soon as he started researching Tadeusz Kosciuszko, Anthony fell in love with the man. After travelling to America, Poland, Switzerland and Kosciuszko National Park for research, Anthony has written the first Australian biography of the Polish hero whose name sits on our highest peak, 184 years after the mountain was named after him.
