Saturday 29 April from 10am to 4pm
International Dance Day is widely celebrated as a time to rejoice in all things dance and celebrate the diversity, resilience, and creativity of the ever-adapting art form.
Did you know it was established in 1982 to pay homage to Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810) who has long been credited with the creation of modern ballet? April 29 was his birthday.
Dance is a way to express emotions, tell stories, release energy and bring people together. Dance is multi-faceted and enjoyed by people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. It is incredible how impactful a single art form can be to a community of people.
Ausdance NSW aims to celebrate International Dance Day in an exciting new way. 2023 will see a larger-than-life festival settle in Sydney’s iconic Martin Place with a stage full of performances by students, professional artists, and community members. Festivals are a great way to bring communities together and create a lasting shared experience celebrating a cause.
"I am excited to present the first year of 'Ausdance Till Dusk' an exhilarating dance festival bringing together the dance community and broader public to celebrate the creative and diverse artistry of NSW performers, students and organisations. What better way than to celebrate as a community on International Dance Day." Marie Soghomonian, Executive Director Ausdance NSW.
