University Place, University of Sydney, Camperdown NSW 2006
When

Friday 8 August from 10:30am to 12:30pm

In this audio descriptive tour, Dr Lisa Andrew will guide you through ceramics both ancient and modern including works in the exhibition Kerameikos. In this exhibition seven Australian ceramicists were invited to create works inspired by the museum’s collection.

We will begin the session through audio description of clay art and artefacts in the collection and strategically using tactile objects in the gallery where you will get the chance to handle ceramics, including pieces made by the artists. Hear about some of the artist’s processes and work and how their works are placed within the traditions over thousands of years of humans making clay objects.

Participants are encouraged to engage in an informal discussion about the objects you are touching and hearing about.
