Ken Done is an internationally recognised artist beloved for his paintings, textiles and design.

Gralton will discuss Done’s expansive career in art and design and the journey towards his first artwork being acquired for the Art Gallery's collection. The acquisition, Sunday 1982, depicts Sydney Harbour viewed from Done’s studio overlooking Chinaman’s Beach in Mosman with a parade of colourful boats and beachgoers, lush foliage, tropical postcards and painting materials. In this painting, Done captures a nostalgic and idealised image of Sydney life in the 1980s – something that feel quintessentially Australian.
