Raquel Caballero: The Patchwork Portal

When

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to Sundays, 10am to 5pm Wednesdays, 10am to 10pm Saturday 6 September 2025 to Sunday 8 February 2026

Visitors of all ages are invited to contribute to a new interactive exhibition, The Patchwork Portal, at the Art Gallery of NSW.

Add your creation to a collaborative patchwork installation made by artist Raquel Caballero, inspired by the artist’s favourite childhood book, L Frank Baum’s The Patchwork Girl of Oz, and the psychedelic textiles of the 1970s.

Then, follow the patchwork yellow brick road to encounter new works of sculpture and portraiture by Caballero, along with a guided audio meditation to transport you through the lands of Oz.

Raquel Caballero is a Sydney artist who celebrates craft as a skilled art. Using papier-mâché, textiles and recycled materials, Caballero’s world is one of imaginative art-making and serious play.

Entry is free.
