Saturday 22 June from 1:30pm to 3:30pm
Join us for a tour of selected exhibitions in the inner-Sydney suburb of Marrickville.
We will start at the newly opened Syrup Contemporary gallery to view the exhibition GUMUL, featuring Indonesian artist Ruth Marbun and Sydney-based artist Maya Stocks. Marbun’s practice involves using acrylic, textile, watercolour and found objects to create deconstructed figures, while Stocks works primarily with sculpture, print and painting to explore themes of capitalist infrastructure and industry.
We will then continue to Laila Gallery to view works from multidisciplinary artist Benjamin Baretto. Baretto’s practice revolves around physical, digital and mechanical systems, often playing with the combination of all three. Finishing at The Commercial gallery we will view works by Patrick Hartigan in his solo exhibition Reliefs. Hartigan often explores the sculptural potential of painting in his practice, creating works that appear both figurative and abstract.
