Amanda Baby Pie creates a veritable Noah’s ark of fanciful beasts & brilliant creatures, imagined from the detritus of life, textiles, found objects, discarded toys, plaster, paints and basically any slow moving object found in and around her Sydney studio. Following a harrowing car accident that nearly claimed her life, Amanda endured a gruelling three-month stay in the hospital, grappling with a multitude of injuries including fractured limbs and severe trauma. Emerging from this ordeal, she found herself battling not only physical pain but also grappling with profound depression and memory loss. It was a long and arduous road to recovery, one that demanded both resilience and perseverance. The results of creative and inspiring art practice has been both therapeutic and life changing.
