Starting with a guided tour of Yiribana Gallery, enjoy over 160 works from the Art Gallery’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collection. This display is inspired by a word from the Aboriginal language of Sydney: burbangana, meaning to ’take hold of my hand and help me up’. Featuring special new acquisitions and projects, the exhibited works touch on moments of burbangana in differing ways.
Then, surrounded by internationally renowned art and overlooking Woolloomooloo Bay, delight your senses with wine and starters followed by a two-course menu at MOD Dining by Clayton Wells, one of Australia’s most exciting chefs.
Depart the Art Gallery on a private bus for your final destination: the Sydney Opera House, for a performance of Yuldea by Bangarra Dance Theatre. Artistic director Frances Rings’ powerful work awakens the earth and sky worlds to tell the story of the Aṉangu people of the Great Victorian Desert. This new major work explores the moment traditional life collided with the industrial ambition of a growing nation. Yuldea features original music by Leon Rodgers with songs by multi-award-winning electronic pop duo Electric Fields (Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross).
The experience includes:
30-minute guided tour of the Art Gallery’s Yiribana Gallery (4:45–5:15pm)
Two-course menu plus starters and a glass of wine at MOD Dining on lower level 1 of the Art Gallery’s North Building (5:15–6:30pm)
