Newtown, get your party gear on and dust off your dancing boots because today, Inner-West brewers and distillers, Young Henrys, are excited to announce the Newtowner’s 10th Birthday Street Party.
Taking over Eliza Street, Newtown on Saturday, December 10, Young Henrys will be celebrating 10 years since the birth of the cult favourite frothie with an honorary tinnie crack and live music to round off the celebrations.
From 2pm - 8pm Young Henrys will be shutting down Eliza Street with a fully decked street party hosted by the legendary Liquor Sisters (Jackie Daniels & Amber Rosé). Pumping out the tunes, The Young Henrys Rock ‘N’ Roll Circus will return, gracing the outdoor stage with an exciting list of rotating guest singers, backed by the YH house band. Storming the mic, catch iconic rock ’n’ roll covers from the likes of Tyne James Organ, the electric tones of Dan Sultan, the nostalgic 80s flavour of Nick Hutt (Johnny Hunter) with soaring vocals from Caitlin Harnett, Lady Lyon + stacks more set to unleash a whirlwind of musical delights for the local community.
At 4pm, festival goers and punters at The Courty pub can partake in the 9th annual tinnie crack - a unified crack of an icy cold Newtowner tinnie, celebrating the iconic brew and pub that first poured Newtowner back in 2012. Hosted by their very own Young Henrys co-founder Oscar McMahon, punters will try their hand at beating the Bucking Tinnie for a chance to win goodies on the day. Beginning its journey in 2012, Young Henrys launched the Newtowner in celebration of the iconic Inner-West suburb’s 160th birthday, with its name a homage to the very place it calls home. Ten years later, Young Henrys invites you to raise a glass to the frothie that has become synonymous with Newtown’s community, culture and arts.
The best local grub will be popping up on the day including burger maestro’s, Mary’s, deli specialists Continental Delicatessen and local coffee and wine bar, 212 Blu. As the sun shines on the streets of Newtown, Young Henrys will be on hand to pour fan favourites brews and cocktails straight from the pop-up tinnie, continuing to serve the local people as always since 2012.
Having championed the Inner-West for a decade, Young Henrys have become synonymous with delivering quality delicious brews, cementing themselves as staples within the booze, music and arts scene. Continuing the Newtowner celebrations, Young Henrys will also be calling on those who have supported them along the way as they gun for the number one spot in the GABS Hottest 100 for 2022, a boozy competition that allows lovers of beer to hero their favourite frothies. Vote Newtowner for #1 via the GABS website.
This December, don’t forget to round up your mates and join Young Henrys in raising a glass to a monumental ten year milestone. RSVP via the Young Henrys facebook page, and don’t forget to vote Newtowner #1.
