Saturday 17 May from 10am to 4pm

We are living in the age of reality hunger. The reading public has an insatiable appetite for well-crafted true stories.

This workshop with author and educator Dr Sian Prior will introduce you to some of the essential skills required to write publishable works of creative non-fiction.

From essays and memoirs to biographies and autobiographies, from personal columns to feature articles, the ingredients remain the same: a consistent and convincing voice, a clear understanding of the story you want to tell about the ‘situation’ you’re describing, the depiction of vivid (real) characters, and an ability to show rather than tell your readers what you want them to know.

The workshop will involve writing and reading tasks and group discussions.

This writing course, Writing Compelling True Stories with Sian Prior will be held at Writing NSW in Sydney.
