Multi-disciplinary artist and Australian Poetry Slam Champion Rob Waters is not to be missed.
A Gomeroi man with deep cultural connections to North-West NSW, Rob Waters is a poet, storyteller, playwright, cultural educator and spoken word artist and has been sharing Story for over 20 years. Rob has worked closely with grassroots communities, helping them to utilise culturally informed storytelling practice and spoken word poetry to spread their message locally, regionally and around the globe.
A multi-time NSW Poetry Slam State finalist and National finalist in the Australian Poetry Slam, Rob was crowned the Australian Poetry Slam Champion in 2023. Rob has performed nationally at major arts festivals including Adelaide, Newcastle and Byron Writer’s Festivals, Red Dirt Poetry Festival in Alice Springs, National Poetry Gala for Red Room Poetry and numerous international literary festivals.
Originally hailing from Tamworth (Gomeroi Country) in North-West NSW, Rob currently is based on the Central Coast of NSW where he continues his artistic practice.
In this intimate session and conversation, Rob will share insights and inspiration about his practice, which has been described as powerful, moving, and at times, unsettling, but always deeply rooted in culture, education and activism.

Danny Gardner: The evening will be hosted by Danny Gardner, a prolific poet, seasoned presenter and passionate advocate for poetry and storytelling. With decades of experience showcasing some of Sydney’s best literary voices, Danny brings a wealth of insight to this inspiring discussion.
Following the talk, participate in an interactive Q&A session to delve deeper into Rob’s creative journey.
