Wear It Purple day is all about fostering supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people.
Led by experienced facilitators in the Darling Square Library makerspace, this workshop is a fun introduction to laser cut jewellery making using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software.
You’ll be guided to create cool jewellery designs inspired by Wear it purple day. You can Wear it purple with grape, lavender and mauve jewellery, keyrings or bag-tags in a range of shades, textures and glitter effects!
Learn the basics of laser cutting and jewellery design in a safe & supportive space and contribute to creating a world where young rainbow people feel proud of who they are.
This workshop is open for all young people aged 12-16 years of age.
What you’ll learn
Basic photo editing using Adobe Photoshop (No prior experience necessary)
Preparing your image in Adobe Illustrator
Basic laser cutting skills
What you’ll take home
1 x laser cut jewellery (1 pair of earrings OR 1 pendant / badge / keyring / bag-tag)
Jewellery designs are laser cut up to a maximum size of 8cm x 8cm
If your design is not ready by the end of the workshop you can collect it from the library after the class

*Eligibility for concession price: The ticket purchaser must hold a valid NSW Pensioner, Senior or full-time student card. Valid proof of concession to be shown in advance or in person at the workshop. If a valid proof of concession is not provided, the full rate will be required to be paid.
