We don't always have the opportunity to hear the inside story on homelessness — direct from someone who has lived the journey.
Each day at UNSEEN Lani shares — with openness and feeling — her life growing up in adoption on the lower North Shore but then becoming homeless at fourteen, living on the streets in Kings Cross, discovering her First Nations birth family, raising her children, seeing them given up for care, then finally returning to the city to find support, community and housing.
Lani shares with us the dark times but also the great sense of belonging and community she encounters on the streets and offers us an opportunity not only for interest but also understanding.
