Sunday 2 February from 2pm to 3:30pm

Join us for a special afternoon screening this Sunday as part of a film program that explores the contribution and influence of the late Wiradjuri and Kamilaroi photographer, artist and filmmaker Michael Riley (1960–2004).

Featured films:

  • Boomalli: Five Koorie Artists – This visually inspiring documentary highlights the creativity of urban Aboriginal artists, including designer Bronwyn Bancroft and filmmaker Tracey Moffatt, as they explore identity and cultural expression through contemporary art forms.

  • I Don’t Want to Be a Bludger – A satirical take on Aboriginal contemporary life, the film follows Delores (Destiny Deacon) in her humorous attempts to find work, featuring a cameo by Michael Riley and a cast of Deacon’s extended family.

  • Nice Coloured Girls – Tracey Moffatt’s audacious short film examines the exploitation of Aboriginal women by colonists and their modern counterparts, blending bold visuals and historical texts to challenge white historical narratives.
