forumprojects is a new gallery dedicated to immersive sound and video art. We aim to bring cutting-edge artistic practices to a broader audience, creating innovative pathways for experiencing contemporary art in a unique and engaging way.

We are excited to present our first season of six leading video and sound artists, running from October 23 to January 25. The season includes immersive works from renowned Australian artists, with each installation on display for over two weeks. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday and located in the dockside Commercial 2 space next to Wharf 4/5.

Our space features a small blackbox with an immersive video and multi-channel sound system, designed to enhance the viewer's experience. Each work will offer a unique sensory journey, providing a fresh perspective on contemporary video and sound art.

Philip Samartzis, Martin Walch, Sean Williams – The Magnetic Quiet Zone

November 6 - 20

Tues-Sat, 11am-6pm

The Magnetic Quiet Zone (TMQZ) is an immersive, 35-minute audio-visual installation exploring the frozen sounds and stagnant silences at the margins of our planet. Drawing on Antarctic research, the work uses field recordings, digital imaging, and ambient music to express the uncanniness of the ice continent, providing a record of mutable weather and human activity over time.

TMQZ is produced through the Australian Antarctic Arts Fellowship program and created within the ARC-funded Discovery Project, “Creative Antarctica: Australian Artists and Writers in the Far South.”
