Expert Talk with Lucy Adlington
Join us for this fascinating session with bestselling author, Lucy Adlington. Lucy is a writer and social historian, specialising in women’s history during the 1940s.
Her bestselling novel, The Dressmakers of Auschwitz, tells the true story of 25 young Jewish inmates of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp who were selected to make beautiful garments for elite Nazi women during the Holocaust. These women bravely sewed to survive in a dedicated salon established by the camp commandant’s wife. It’s a remarkable story of resilience, camaraderie and quiet heroism in the most extreme circumstances.
Hear about Lucy’s fascinating research into real eyewitness testimony and the original garments from the era that went into writing the book.
