  • Adobe Photoshop: Please install Adobe Photoshop prior to the workshop. You can download a 7-day free trial here: Adobe Photoshop Free Trial.

  • Wacom Tablet (Optional but Recommended): A Wacom tablet is highly recommended for textile design work. If you have one or can borrow one, it will greatly enhance your experience. You can explore options here: Wacom Drawing Tablet

About the teachers:

Roberta and Simona are best friends and freelance textile print designers who have built their creative careers side by side, sharing a deep bond of friendship and passion for textile design. Roberta, an Italian-Mexican artist, and Simona, originally from Sicily but growing up in Lake Como, met while working for a prominent textile design studio in Italy’s textile hub, Lake Como.

Their shared love for vibrant colours, innovative designs, and creative expression has been a driving force behind their careers. After gaining valuable experience across Europe, the duo made the bold decision to move to Australia in 2013 to further explore their creative potential.

Today, they work together at Betta Design Studio, where they channel their artistic vision into intricate textile designs. Their complementary styles and strong connection make them a dynamic team. Both are passionate not only about creating art but also about teaching others how to turn patterns into wearable art. Their combined talents and years of collaboration make them an inspiring duo, ready to create with and motivate their audience.

What to expect:

Day 1:

  • Part 1 (10am-12:30pm): Begin with free-flowing creativity, where you'll design your own patterns and motifs using provided materials. Discover your unique style and create elements for your print.

  • Part 2 (1:30pm-4pm): Learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop and start developing your scarf design by scanning your artwork and working with essential tools to bring your vision to life.

Day 2:

  • Part 1 (10am-12pm): Refine your design by organizing layers, adjusting colours, and creating seamless borders. Explore different layout styles and finalize the details of your print.

  • Part 2 (1pm-4pm): Complete your scarf design by finalizing the background, colours, and layout.

Finish with a group sharing session to celebrate your creative journey.
