Sydney Pride Festival launches Pride Month celebrations 2025: Love, Respect, Empower!
This June, Sydney Pride Festival 2025 will set the city alight with a powerful celebration of love, unity, and equality. Running from June 1st to June 30th, this year’s festival embraces the inspiring theme "Love, Respect, Empower", calling on the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to stand together in celebration, reflection, and action.
With a vibrant mix of theatre, art, live entertainment, and community events, Sydney Pride Month is more than just a party – it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come and the work that still lies ahead.
Pride is personal. It’s about the people who fought, and still fight, for visibility and acceptance. This festival honours the brave activists of the first Sydney Mardi Gras in 1978, who marched despite facing violence and discrimination, igniting a movement that helped shape Sydney into the proud, inclusive city it is today. It also remembers the 1969 Stonewall Riots, a defining moment in LGBTQIA+ history that sent a message to the world: we will not be silenced.
Festival coordinator Glenn Hansen shares the heart of this year’s theme:
“Pride isn’t just about celebration – it’s about being seen, being heard, and lifting each other up. ‘Love, Respect, Empower’ is a reminder that every single person in our community matters. This festival is for all of us.”
Expect dazzling drag performances, thought-provoking discussions, vibrant parties, and fundraising events supporting LGBTQIA+ initiatives. With local businesses, artists, and performers coming together, the festival promises an inclusive, electric, and unforgettable experience.
The full festival program drops in mid-May, so stay tuned! Get involved, show up, and celebrate your truth. Visit www.sydneypride.com and follow us on social media @sydneypridefestival for the latest updates.
