Pairing the works of Violet Cooper and Mandy Robinson for SWELL seemed an obvious and satisfying choice. Violet’s ceramics, and Mandy’s drawings are structurally sound, impressive, engaging and sophisticated.

These chunky, swollen forms have been pushed to the limits, both in the clay and on paper. Creating such a voluminous mass entails a process of repetition, careful decision-making, and the meticulous integration of different elements to form a unified structure.

Through colour, unconventional forms, pattern and in some instances, the incorporation of text, they draw us in and make us feel good.

Exhibition October 4 - November 29, opening hours Friday to Saturday, 11am - 3pm; Opening Saturday 4 October 1 - 3pm; 24/7 window gallery.
