Nomad String Quartet – Mozart String Quartets

Mozart wrote his fifteenth and nineteenth String Quartets in Vienna a few years before the First Fleet set sail from Portsmouth. Sitting today in our vibrantly multicultural and modern metropolis, it is interesting to reflect that the early European settlers might have played this music in their drawing rooms for leisure!

Performed by the Nomad String Quartet, these pieces are from a set of six that Mozart dedicated to his mentor, friend and fellow Austrian composer, Joseph Haydn, who is often credited as the ‘inventor’ of the string quartet genre.
