Friday 21 June from 10am to 12:30pm
Join us for a pancake morning tea with students from Central Sydney Intensive English High School and guest speaker Milad, from the Refugee Council of Australia.
Student Representative Council students from the local Central Sydney Intensive English High School will make and serve pancakes and then join each table to have a casual chat about being a refugee.
Guest speaker Milad is an ambassador for the Refugee Council of Australia and a pharmacist. After fleeing both Iraq and Syria, Milad and his family settled in Australia 10 years ago. Milad will share his experiences and advocacy for refugees and people seeking asylum at this event.
Entertainment will be provided by Central Sydney Intensive English High School students throughout the morning.
Community transport available for eligible people.
Bookings are recommended for this free event.
Refugee Week (16-22 June) is a celebration of the contributions refugees and people seeking asylum make in our communities. It's also a time when all Australians are encouraged to educate themselves about the issues that affect refugees, as well as listen to the stories of those seeking asylum.
The theme of this year's Refugee Week is Finding Freedom: Family. This theme invites us to explore the stories of refugees who, despite the challenges they encounter, discover a source of freedom within the embrace of their families.
We aim to deliver inclusive and accessible events. If you have any particular access or communication needs, please call 02 9265 9116 or email msanna@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au
