Sunday 25 January from 1pm to 3pm
Joachim Trier teams up once more with Renate Reinsve, the star of his Oscar nominated feature The Worst Person In The World, for a bracing and deeply affecting dive into complex family dynamics.
Sisters Nora (Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas) reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård), a once-renowned director who offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film. When Nora turns it down, she soon discovers he has given her part to an eager young Hollywood star. Suddenly, the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father — and deal with an American star (Elle Fanning) dropped right into the middle of their deeply fractured family ties.
Selected as the Norwegian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards, Sentimental Value had its world premiere at the main competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it received widespread acclaim and won the Grand Prix.
