Working in clay provides a responsive and direct medium to create sculpture. This course, guided by sculptor Richard Byrnes, will provide skills to create ceramic sculptures of volume and detail that truly express the artists’ intentions.
We will cover modelling human forms, faces and animals. Students can follow their own creative direction; undertake a portrait from source material or use clay as a means of personalised expression. Instruction is provided in suitable armatures for ceramic volumes, preparation for the kiln and much more.
Tools are provided and clay is available for purchase. Firing works is an additional charge.
No previous experience required. Beginners welcome.
These classes are conducted under covid safe conditions. All participants must be vaccinated to participate.
