What is manga? Manga, the Japanese word for 'comics', is a captivating blend of art and storytelling that's become a global phenomenon, woven into the fabric of Japanese pop culture alongside anime and video gaming.
Embark on an interactive journey into manga creation. This workshop, featuring award-winning graphic novelist Queenie Chan, begins with a brief intro to Japan's vibrant manga culture, then dives into crafting your own story, with a special focus on:
pacing and panelling: master the layout of your manga panels for maximum impact
character creation and design: learn to draw a manga face, design unique clothing and pair visuals with a rich backstory
hands-on practice: come ready to draw! No advanced art skills required. Passion and creativity are all that’s needed.
Exclusive resources: attendees receive character model worksheets to guide their unique manga creations.
