What is manga? Manga, the Japanese word for 'comics', is a captivating blend of art and storytelling that's become a global phenomenon, woven into the fabric of Japanese pop culture alongside anime and video gaming.

Embark on an interactive journey into manga creation. This workshop, featuring award-winning graphic novelist Queenie Chan, begins with a brief intro to Japan's vibrant manga culture, then dives into crafting your own story, with a special focus on:

  • pacing and panelling: master the layout of your manga panels for maximum impact

  • character creation and design: learn to draw a manga face, design unique clothing and pair visuals with a rich backstory

  • hands-on practice: come ready to draw! No advanced art skills required. Passion and creativity are all that’s needed.

Exclusive resources: attendees receive character model worksheets to guide their unique manga creations.

Who should attend? Beginners, avid manga readers, and aspiring artists alike—this workshop is designed to ignite your storytelling potential.

Join us and unleash the storyteller within you through the enthralling world of manga!

Following the workshop will be a free interview held in the Ideas Space with Queenie Chan from 2-3pm.
