Come along and meet Egyptian-Australian journalist Daniel Nour whose debut book How to Dodge Flying Sandals and other advice for life will be published late May.

Daniel will be sharing stories with Shirley Le (Funny Ethnics), a fellow writer from the  Sweatshop Literacy Movement based in Western Sydney. And you can expect a very entertaining evening as Daniel also dabbles in improv comedy! His book has been described as ‘wildly absurd, sharply insightful and disarmingly heartfelt’. This is one event you won’t want to dodge! 

Daniel Nour is an Egyptian-Australian journalist and a member of Sweatshop: Western Sydney Literacy Movement. His writing has featured in the New York TimesSBS VoicesMeanjin Quarterly _and _Eureka Street. In 2020, he won the New South Wales Premier's Young Journalist of the Year Award. He dabbles in improv comedy. 

Shirley Le is a Vietnamese-Australian writer from Western Sydney. Her debut novel, Funny Ethnics, was published by Affirm Press in 2023. She is also a member of the Sweatshop Writers Collective, a literacy movement based in Western Sydney.

This event is part of a series of in conversation literary talks. The main conversation will be followed by an opportunity for audience members to ask questions, and then to meet the authors at a book signing afterwards. Drinks may be taken into the theatre. Seating is unreserved. Arrive early and browse the fascinating and fabulous exhibits at Qtopia Sydney.
