Wednesday 18 June from 10am to 11:30am
Come along to the Ron Williams Community Centre to celebrate Refugee Week!
Join us for a Syrian inspired morning tea and hear from guest speaker Sophie, a Refugee Ambassador with the Refugee Council of Australia.
Sophie spent her first 25 years in Syria, a life she remembers as safe and vibrant, filled with university studies, friendships and travel.
The outbreak of war dramatically changed Sophie's life. By 2015, she was forced to escape to Lebanon. After an anxious wait, she was profoundly relieved to be accepted for resettlement in Australia. Sophie is now an active participant in the Refugee Council’s Refugee Stories for Change program.
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear Sophie's story and connect with one another over a lovely morning tea.
Community transport may be available for local eligible residents.
We aim to deliver inclusive and accessible events. If you have any particular access or communication needs please contact Jessica Mayr on 0418 696 464 or email jmayr@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au.
